Dr. Bharat L. Newalkar joined Corporate R&D Centre, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in September 2002 and currently holds charge of General Manager (R&D). Currently, Dr. Newalkar is leading zeolite synthesis and catalysis group who is actively engaged in development of high silica zeolite based catalysts for oligomerization, dewaxing and niche petrochemical applications. His group has successfully developed dewaxing catalyst formulations which are currently practiced commercially in BPCL group of refineries. Apart from zeolite catalysis, Dr. Newalkar is actively working on development of porous materials for adsorptive separation and low pressure natural gas storage applications. Dr. Newalkar has published over 60 scientific papers and holds 10 patents. He has contributed 3 one ASTM book chapter on hydroisomerization of refinery streams and two book chapters on bio-lubricants and their applications He is a technical reviewer for Elsevier journals (Micro porous and Mesoporous Materials, Applied Catalysis, Journal of Molecular Catalysis, Fuels) and ACS journals (Energy & Fuels, Industrial Engg. and Chemical Research) and is on Editorial Board of Journal of Porous Materials. He has guided 3 Ph.D. candidates. Dr. Newalkar did his Ph.D. in zeolite science and catalysis from M.S. University of Baroda, India and carried out his post-doctoral work at The Pennsylvania State University, USA in the area of material science.
