Dr. Naveen Kumar Chandrasekaran works as a Scientist in CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. He has an undergraduate degree in B.Tech Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering and Ph.D in Chemistry from Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) in March 2011 specializing in nano-structured porous materials. His research focus is on Recovery of metals from primary and secondary resources through electrohydro and pyro metallurgical routes, Graphite Beneficiation from low grade graphite ores, synthesis of Boron and Silicon carbide through carbothermal and pyrometallurgical routes, development of large scale Magnesium recovery from primary and secondary sources through Molten Salt electrolysis. Develop electrocatalysts for energy conversion reactions such as OER, ORR and CO2RR. Also he is focusing on electrometallurgy and preparation of nanoporous foams. So far he has 25 research publications in various peer-reviewed journals. He is a recipient of prestigious CSIR- Young Scientist Award for the year 2018 in Chemical Sciences.
