Raman Ramachandran Ph.D is the Chairman and Managing Director of BASF India Ltd. and Head of BASF Group Companies in South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka). Prior to this he was Senior Vice President, Crop Protection, Asia Pacific and was responsible for the Agriculture Solutions business (one of BASF’s 13 Operating Business Units) for the Asia Pacific Region. He has been with BASF since year 2000.

Raman has over 25 years of diversified experience in research, operations, Marketing, New Business development and strategic planning, spanning Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific regions. He has lived and worked in US, Philippines, Kenya, Singapore.

He has a Master’s Degree in Agriculture Science and PhD from University of Adelaide, South Australia. He pursued his research interest for the next 6 years at Institutes/Universities of International Repute such IRRI, Philippines, ICIPE, Kenya, University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. During his academic career he has published more than 25 research papers in International Scientific publications and has won a number of awards including Robert S McNamara Fellowships of the Economic Development Institute of World Bank in 1990.

Raman is also a Newfield Certified Executive Coach and is passionate about leadership development.

Married to Lata, Raman has two daughters Deepika and Amita.
