Dr. T K Sreedevi, IAS

As member of Indian Administrative Service I have rich experience in Public
Administration including Land Administration, Weaker Section Finance Development
Corporation, Environment and Watershed Programme, Participatory Research and Development,
Disaster Mitigation, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Taxation and Municipal Administration.
I had opportunity to work with an International Donor, Department for International
Development (DFID), UK as Additional Programme Coordinator, Andhra Pradesh Rural
Livelihoods Programme (APRLP); later I worked in International Crops Research Institute for
the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) as Senior Scientist in Watershed Development. During this
time I had opportunity to work in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Africa. I worked for
System-wide Programme on Gender and Diversity with International Food Policy Research
Institute (IFPRI), US and University of Florida. I also participated in System-wide Programme
on Participatory Research and Development with International Potato Centre, South America. I
had a wide range of exposure to work with various UN Organizations and also International
NGOs.
I had worked as Joint Collector and Additional District Magistrate in West Godavari
District. During this time I had worked on Canal system of Irrigation and Agriculture
Development. And also monitoring on food processing i.e., Milling, Public distribution system.
As Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes I worked in Charminar Division, where tax
compliance was a challenge. Here I could bring filing of ‘e- returns’ as a norm and improved tax
compliance with 43% year on year growth.
As Commissioner, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, I worked for fulfilment of
Rehabilitation and Resettlement obligation of the State for 43 projects including 37 Irrigation
projects, Singareni Projects, Nuclear Power projects. I could bring Systems Improvement in
Land acquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement in 500 Villages through Participatory
initiatives and developing a Grievance Redressal Mechanisms. During my tenure we could
complete four prestigious major irrigation projects. Later, I was District Collector,
Mahabubnagar District which was one of the 250 most backward district in the country. The
focus on Education Improvement, Health, ICBS has brought the District up to becoming 2nd in
the State in SSC results for two consecutive years. The District was lauded for being on the top
for Mother Child Tracking System (MCTS). As a team we could make it Gudumba Rahitha Jilla.
The Relentless Work of Excise, Police, Health, Welfare Departments could upgrade the District
to becoming illicit liquor free in less than 3 months and pioneered Rehabilitation of poor illicit
liquor brewers as well. I organised Krishna Pushkaralu in 54 locations with complete piety and
with massive footfalls in 54 ghats. Presently, as Commissioner and Director, Mission Director
for Eradication of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), I have a mandate to bring efficiency in
Governance and nurture the Urban Local Bodies to become Growth Engines for Development
and Realisation of the Vision of “BANGARU TELANGANA” (Unprecedented development) of
the 29th State in a Federal Nation.
